Many of Peddie’s fall sports teams spent Halloween competing against fellow MAPL school Hun School of Princeton. It was hard fought day for the Falcons, who returned to Peddie with a total of 4 wins and 5 losses.

Both field hockey teams (varsity and JV) lost, but despite the varsity field hockey’s tough 1-0 defeat, junior Bridget Wood was very supportive of her team.

“There is no other team that I would rather win or lose with.” Wood stated.

Other losses included girls varsity soccer (3-0), boys thirds soccer(4-3) and varsity football (40-13). The victories of the day for Peddie included boys JV soccer (4-0), girls JV tennis (6-0) and girls JV soccer (3-0). In addition, boys varsity soccer defeated Hun 6-2 to claim the MAPL title for soccer for the first time since 2008.

Coach Peter McClellan was pleased with the team’s performance.

“The score could have been anything we wanted it to. It was a great win for us,” McClellan stated.

Teams are now preparing for Blair where Peddie will try to win the Potter-Kelley

Cup for the second year in a row. Director of Athletics Jason Baseden said he “feels great” moving into Blair Day with such a successful fall season.

“It’s going to be very close,” said Baseden. “We are pretty evenly matched, so it’s going to come down to one or two games, I think.”

Baseden predicted that the games between tennis, field hockey, football and soccer would be especially close on Blair Day.

“With all the energy at home, when it’s all said and done, I think we will still have the cup at Peddie!” Baseden predicted.
