The cross country team had its first home meet on Sept. 28 with first-place wins on both the boys and girls side.
Liam Wall ’14 and Colin Mulligan ’15 placed first and second, respectively. Both broke Tom Hennessy’s ’12 course record of 16:23, set in 2009. Rachel Greaney ’16, Bridgid Greed ’16 and Katie Keyser ’16 filled the top three spots, respectively, in their division. Wall, Mulligan and Greaney each met the national silver standard for the 5,000 meter run.
“I only realized a few moments before finishing that both Liam and I were breaking the school record set by Tom Hennessy,” Mulligan said. “It was a pretty surreal feeling because he was a role model for me when I was a freshman, teaching me how to run faster and accomplish my goals. This was a personal record for me as well. This is satisfying because I know that I, like my teammates, worked throughout the summer for results like the ones on Saturday.”
