The Peddie Women in Tech Club (PWIT) is a part of the Computer Science Club, and its mission is to unite young women in STEM by providing a supportive environment and community space. Led by Aanya Tolat ’25, Eliza Lamar ’25, and Ananya Hari ’25, the club works to bridge the gender gap in STEM, one Peddie student at a time.
All of the Women in Tech Club’s speaker events are open to the whole school. Last year, the club (virtually) brought in many presenters who talked to the Peddie community about various topics, such as their careers and the progress of Artificial Intelligence. These speakers, Elizabeth Shulman, Ashka Stephen, and Marcello Benati, work in the tech industry at companies such as Google and Microsoft. Thanks to Jackie Borges P’24, the Women in Tech Club was able to host these fantastic presenters.
In the 2023-24 school year, the club aims to hold more speaker events and many club meetings and support spaces for girls at Peddie interested in STEM and technology. One of the presenters PWIT will host this year is Nita Singh Kaushal, founder of Miss CEO and a lecturer at Stanford University.
Mark your calendars for the first speaker event of the year, scheduled for October 3.
