As Peddie’s fall sports teams prepare to face off against Blair Academy in New Jersey’s oldest
prep school rivalry, the Falcons are focused on one thing: keeping the Kelley-Potter Cup. Blair Day, our most beloved school tradition, will take place this year on November 4, 2023, away from the nest. After an exciting win in 2022, students are now gearing up for this year’s much-anticipated Blair Week celebrations featuring themed dress days and culminating with the infamous “Peddie Eve” pep rally and bonfire. This year’s schedule for Blair week is Pajama Day, Halloween, Decades Day, Farmer Day, and finally, Blue and Gold Day.
The first Peddie-Blair competition boasting a full day of athletic events took place in 1903.
Representing sportsmanship, school spirit, and friendship, the Kelley-Potter Cup was introduced
in 1988. It is named after James R. Kelley, former headmaster of Blair Academy, and F. Edward
Potter, Jr., a beloved former headmaster of Peddie. To date, the Falcons have walked away with
the Cup 20 times, while the Blair Buccaneers have secured eight wins. Five matchups have ended in ties.
This year, in advance of Blair Day, the Junior Varsity Girls Tennis team will compete on
Monday, October 30, with the results counting toward the Blair Day tally. As tradition, every
sports event counts equally, with the Kelley-Potter Cup being awarded to the school that amasses the greatest number of wins. Here is the full schedule of matches:
