When one begins to think of the greatest pillars of Peddie’s society, one name comes to mind: our Head of School, Peter Quinn, or PQ for short. Whether it’s waving hello to him as he zooms by on his bicycle or listening to him give a grand speech in the Chapel, all students have had warm interactions with him. However, time proves to be fickle, and the baton must be passed eventually.
On February 6, 2024, Peddie students opened their inboxes to a bittersweet email sent by Mr. Quinn. Within this email, Mr. Quinn revealed the sorrowful news of his retirement from Peddie on June 30, 2025, detailing the new, robust search for Peddie’s next head of school, whose tenure will begin July 1, 2025. The response to this news was heartbreaking, as students and teachers alike could not imagine a Peddie School without its beloved Head of School at the helm. However, Mr. Quinn provided reassurance, expressing that, “It will be a good time for the Quinns and for Peddie to make this change. I will leave with profound gratitude that is difficult to express.”
Mr. Quinn furthered this sentiment by discussing the steps in the search for a new Head, mentioning that the Board of Trustees and senior leadership have completed an extended review of Peddie’s four Strategic Priorities, which the next Head will be able to pursue in the future.
It is with a saddened heart that we must now bid farewell to Mr. Quinn as he embarks on a new path next year. We thank him for his significant contribution to The Peddie School and will remember him fondly. Ala Viva!
