The mental health club at Peddie is integral to focusing and supporting the wellbeing of students on campus, striving to reduce mental health stigma on campus and spread awareness. I interviewed one of the three senior leaders of the club, Eva Ouyang ‘25, and gained insight into the significance of mental health at Peddie.
Ouyang reiterated why a student should join the mental health club: “Everybody goes through low points and high points during their time here, and during the low points, it is important to find healthy outlets at Peddie.” Peddie is a highly rigorous school academically, athletically and socially. But Balance is one of Peddie’s core values, and the mental health club helps to implement that. A staple activity for the mental health club is snack breaks and therapy dog visits during exam week, which encourages stressed students to take a break from the books and take a deep breath.
The goal of the mental health club for the 2024-2025 school year is to maintain a presence on campus and hold consistent meetings and snack breaks. The club is always looking for new members and hopes to see you at the club fair on September 18 at center campus.
