With the school year in full swing and the conclusion of the fall term fast approaching, it is more important than ever for Peddie students to make use of the resources at their disposal in order to keep up with their busy schedules. In other words, now is the perfect time to come and visit the Writing Center!
The Writing Center is a student-provided academic service that allows members of the Peddie community across all grade levels to seek advice and assistance from their peers with regard to their writing assignments. From essays to research papers, the Writing Center is well-equipped to support students working on all varieties of literary material. The Writing Center is open five times a week during both DMX and study hall and is located on the second floor of Annenberg in room 205.
When asked about her opinions on the Writing Center, senior Writing Center fellow Imani Jones ’25 said that she finds it “very useful because I enjoy challenging the ideas that people come in with to help them strengthen their arguments. It helps a lot to have a second pair of eyes.”
Mr. Bennett, chair of the English department and advisor to the Writing Center, believes that “beyond the obvious and practical reason that students who receive writing advice and input will likely write stronger papers, the Writing Center helps students understand that writing is a process as much as it is a product.”
“The Writing Center helps students gain a sense of Peddie’s commitment to high-level academics alongside community support, as opposed to a more competitive and cutthroat culture,” he added.
As the year continues to progress, it is important to remember that the Writing Center is a fantastic resource for all Peddie students looking to improve their writing and receive constructive feedback from their peers. For anyone who wants to write more betterer, the Writing Center is the place to go!
