The Grille, commonly known for its wide variety of snacks, drinks and other items, has now added a new option: pizza. As announced by Head Chef Jeremy Stahl in an email on January 9th, “We have heard you loud and clear…The ‘Grille’ is now serving Pizza!!” The Grille’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the pizzas will be ready to serve by 9:30 a.m.. Special events outside the regular hours can call or email The grille for catering, ensuring convenient multi-hour availability of the new product.
For those looking for a quick slice to-go or snack in the day, a slice of cheese pizza costs $2.50. Larger parties and functions may want to get the 10-inch cheese for $9.00, the 10-inch pepperoni for $10.00 or the 16-inch cheese for $18.00. Indeed, these are competitive prices — Papa John’s 10-inch pepperoni costs $13.28, while a 10-inch cheese from Domino’s would cost you $8.99.
To get some first-hand experience with the new offerings, I bought pizza slices for myself and some friends and gathered their opinions. A hungry Ryan Yan ‘28, told me, “this pizza is so good…would recommend.” Vicky Wu ‘28, said, “This pizza is definitely a solid choice, even the packaging is pro.” And as I tried it myself, I concurred. The pizza was well heated, full of flavor and the pepperoni didn’t fail to impress.
While Peddie students seem to be satisfied with these new pizzas, they may have gotten the staff at Mannino’s Pizzeria talking. Will The Grille’s pizza serve as competition to the existing grip that Mannino’s has on students’ pizza cravings? Wu believes that while The Grille’s new pizza is closer and more convenient, the well-established popular appeal and great variety of pizza and other Italian fare available at Mannino’s will “keep it the top fine dining choice at Peddie.”
But if one craves a quick home-grown slice, The Grille’s new offering may be just what you’re looking for.
