Why do you really want to serve in this position?
Honestly, just because I care. I know that’s the classic answer, but I really do. Peddie moves fast, especially freshman year, and in the middle of that chaos, I’ve noticed how much smoother things could be. Whether it’s communication gaps, confusing schedules, or just the feeling that decisions are made without much student input, I’ve seen places where change is possible. I want to help fix the little things that build up, advocate for the stuff people don’t always say out loud, and make sure our voices actually matter. Also, I think student council should feel less like a title and more like a team. And I’d love to be part of that team.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
At a place like Peddie, where everyone’s doing so much all the time, it’s easy to feel like we only know parts of each other. But if there’s one thing I’ve tried to be this year, it’s consistent. Whether I’m showing up to club meetings, working on projects, or just being there for friends, I try to be someone people can rely on. I know the value of showing up and putting in the work, and I want to do that for our class. I want to be the kind of rep you can count on. Not just when things are going well, but especially when we need change or when something needs to be fixed. And at the end of the day, I want everyone to feel like their voice is being heard, not just the loudest ones.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I think the biggest mistake any leader can make is assuming they already know what everyone needs. I won’t do that. I’ll ask, listen, and keep checking in. Whether you’re super involved or not, day or boarding, extrovert or introvert—I want your voice in the room. Sometimes the best ideas come from the quietest people, and sometimes change starts with one small conversation. I want to make space for both. I also want to be approachable—someone you can text, wave down, or talk to after class. Not everything has to be formal. Good leadership should feel human.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
I think there’s a lot of room to make student life smoother and more fun without doing anything over-the-top. First, I want to help make things feel a little less chaotic and more in sync. That could look like quick weekly updates from students to students. Just a short video or clean email recapping what’s going on that week: games, club events, schedule changes, deadlines. Something easy to check on a Sunday night so you don’t walk into Monday confused. I’d also set up a student feedback form that stays open year-round—just a simple way for people to drop ideas or thoughts (anonymously or not), and actually get responses. I know we all have opinions… so might as well make it easy to share them and be heard. And then, of course, I want to bring back more fun stuff like grade-wide games that break up the routine. Like glow-in-the-dark capture the flag or a scavenger hunt across campus with weird dares and challenges. Nothing too formal, just a way to connect as a class and make memories without the pressure of a “school event.” Peddie has so many amazing things going on, but I think it’s the small changes that can really bring us together, and I’d love to help make that happen.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
To be honest, balancing everything is part of the deal. I genuinely love being involved in school events, clubs, and activities. Whether it’s rowing, attending club meetings, or just participating in what’s going on around campus, I enjoy staying busy and being part of the Peddie community. Managing a full schedule keeps me organized, and it’s something I’ve gotten good at over time. I wouldn’t take on a role like student council if I didn’t know I could give it the attention it needs. It won’t be just another responsibility on my plate, it’s something I’m excited to invest in and make time for because I really care about making Peddie the best it can be!
