Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I want to serve as your 10th grade student representative to make a memorable difference in our community. I stand for inclusivity and representation, and I am committed to keeping Peddie a place where everybody’s ideas are valued and heard. Through hard work and commitment, I believe that together, we can make Peddie even more welcoming and connected as a community.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
Hey, I’m Sarabeth, and I am running to be a student representative for our sophomore year because I truly care about making a difference in our community. I am a dedicated, hardworking student, and I am willing and ready to listen to your ideas and make a meaningful impact. I am committed to keeping Peddie a place where everyone is involved and can confidently share new ideas without fear of judgment or disrespect. The qualities I possess that will allow me to be a successful representative are collaboration, dedication, and compassion. I enjoy working with others and hearing different perspectives because I believe we come up with the best ideas as a team. I am also a very committed person. You can always rely on me to follow through because I care deeply about our community. More importantly, I care about others. I prioritize kindness, and I want to make sure everyone feels included and respected. I also consider myself to be an approachable person, so don’t be afraid to approach me if you have a question or concern. I care deeply about our school, and I will always advocate for our class’s ideas. I will do everything I can to bring your ideas to life and make our sophomore year a fun one! I genuinely want to create positive change in our school, and it starts with you. Vote for Sarabeth Lee, the rep for you and me! Ala viva!
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I strive for inclusivity and representation in our leadership. I am active in our community through sports and other activities, and I am committed to advocating for all these groups, as well as making sure that everybody feels included. More specifically, I can be a strong voice for the day student population. Since we are a minority in the school, it is even more important that we have a strong representative to advocate for our experience here. As a day student who usually stays on campus until dinner and even later, I feel that I keep a good balance between day and boarding communities, which I believe will give me a unique perspective and help me bring the student body closer together.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
One initiative to improve the overall school experience for fellow students is to incorporate more spirit days before school breaks. I think that they could be fun, school-wide events that students would appreciate and that would also boost overall school spirit. Additionally, I’d like to have more day students and boarding hangouts earlier in the day so the students who go home earlier on weekends and Fridays or students who have later commitments don’t have to miss out on the fun!
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
As we make the transition to sophomore year, academics and extracurricular obligations will become more intense, with harder classes and new activities. But I’ve learned to manage my time well and keep a good balance between academics, sports, and time to relax. I always use time wisely, I stay committed to everything I take on, and I put in my full effort. Whether it is an activity, club, or team project, you can always count on me to do my part.
