Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I really care about the little things that my friends or classmates are experiencing, whether it’s the quiet frustrations or anxieties. I am a chill guy to be honest, and I really want to be a leader who can listen carefully and thoughtfully and make small changes.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
I want to bring honesty and appreciation to this community. I believe that a lot of small, daily and practical changes will help it a lot. The peers should choose me because I am just a person like that, who not express my true thoughts to others but also very sensitive to other peoples’ emotions. Thus, I usually know when they need help. I am also a critical person. If a rule feels unfair or a system isn’t working, I’ll be the first to ask: How can we fix this? My role isn’t to defend the status quo, but to challenge it. If my peers have concerns, I will bring them up too. I’ll bring that same honesty and attention into every conversation, every meeting, every moment where this community could be kinder, fairer, or just a little more reasonable and fun.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I will make sure that I am always open to advices and highlight that everyone can seek me for help. I am also an international student so I do understand how it feels to be isolated sometimes. I will try my best to make sure everyone is treated equally and can fully share their thought, whether it’s through anonymous forms or meetings.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
When I first came here, this place felt like a community—alive, supportive, human. I want to protect that spirit. I want to maintain that fun and reasonable community. I feel like a lot of my peers, sometimes myself are too stressed out. It is important to follow the rules, complete classes and enjoy life at the same time. Maybe I can introduce food that my peers like at the grill, advocate for fairer deadlines during packed academic weeks or even change the Gold Week Friday Wifi Rule (Working on it)
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
I don’t think it will. I will have time to join the meetings and take care of the community.
