Why do you really want to serve in this position?
Big idea: I want students to have more opportunities to share their ideas.
I want to make sure students have the best high school experience possible. By serving on student council I can voice student opinions of what changes they want to see in the school and what events they’d like to participate in. I want to bridge the gap between students, student council, and administration so the student body will be able to share their ideas on administrative decisions. I also want to promote open mindedness within our school and create opportunities for people of different backgrounds to meet and interact.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
Peers should vote for me because of my openminded-ness and responsibility. I served on student council this year and I promise that all of us tried our best to get student ideas out there (we’re currently planning the beach trip, so if you have any ideas I’m all ears!). I’m always open to hearing new ideas, even if I may not agree at first. Anyone can feel free to email or come up to me and tell me what their opinions are on how to better the school. Although I can’t guarantee it will be implemented, I promise I will try my best to have it be heard. I show up to every commitment on time and I hold myself to a very high standard. I refuse to quit and I will make sure your voice is heard.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
My leadership will be inclusive and representative of the entire student body because I am willing to listen to what everyone has to say. People of all different backgrounds and beliefs are all welcome to tell me about their ideas and give me or any other member of student council feedback. For major decisions it’s also possible to send out google forms where all students have the ability to vote and weigh-in.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
This year student council has been trying to create more fun activities for students in the grille during times like DMX. I’d love to continue this, and if you have any ideas of activities please let me know. I also want to create a student council Instagram or Tik-Tok for our class. This way, students have a direct way to find up-to-date information on school events and meetings, allowing them to stop searching through their sea of emails to find relevant information. I also want to bring back fun events like the valentines day roses and having more fun fundraiser events that could help raise money for things like class trips.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
I am and am going to continue to take rigorous classes that require a strong sense of time management and responsibility. I’ve become very good at designating time for different tasks and getting them done before their deadline. I’m also a runner which has taught important self discipline skills like showing up to things that I know will be hard, but persevering and getting through them anyways.
