Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I want to be a class representative because I care about making our time at Peddie fun, memorable, and meaningful. I often hear people complaining and wishing things were different, and I want to be the person who actually listens, speaks up, and helps turn our ideas into reality. I’m in this for everybody.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
I am a creative, passionate, and humorous person who wants the best for everyone, and I will channel this fully as a class representative. I will always strive to find ways to make sure everybody can enjoy themselves while at Peddie. I believe that we all have unique ideas on how to improve our school, so I feel as if this is more of a class effort and less of an effort on my own. I want our ideas to culminate into having a more connected, less stressed, and highly vibrant class of 2027.
If there’s one thing that really unites us, it’s food. The way we all salivate while waiting for chicken nuggets is peak school spirit, so why not recreate this feeling during class events? I would send out forms before events asking about what kind of snacks we would like beforehand. I am hungry for change, so I will ensure the favored snacks are present at the event.
Additionally, to increase school spirit, I want to create something called the “Spirit Challenge,” where you try and go to 27 (for our year) Peddie events, from home games to theater productions to contests to recitals. I’ll set up a system for submitting what events you go to, but people who are able to make it to 27 different events that aren’t of their own team/activity could get a pizza party at the end of the year or some other incentive that you guys may want.
To sum it up, I have ideas that will allow us to connect with each other while taking into account what people want to see.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
Like I mentioned earlier, I will send out forms before events asking for snack suggestions, but I will also add a section in the form with any event suggestions or advice. I also want to make a class of 2027 Instagram page where you can always drop a DM with things you are really dying to do. Additionally, I want to design a webpage to show upcoming events, and there will be a “leave a message” section for ideas as well.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
As mentioned before, I want to foster initiatives that actually unify our class. These are my main points of focus:
– Delicious snacks picked by you guys to satisfy your mid-day hunger
– Instagram account and webpage to promote events and accept suggestions
– Increasing school spirit with an engaging Spirit Challenge!
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
This year, I have been a leader of the Peddie Paper Enthusiasts and Urban Uplift, the architecture club, all while being an athlete during the fall and spring and performing in the winter musical. I took 7 classes in the fall and winter, and now I thankfully take 6. I have been able to balance my academics and extracurriculars, and plan to do the same next year along with the position of class representative because helping out our grade is one of my top priorities, no matter what gets in the way.
