Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I am eager to serve in this position to foster closer relationships with the student body and form new connections with diverse individuals, and I believe this role will enable me to reach out and form meaningful bonds with new people. I also believe that I share many of the same opinions as the general student body regarding the school, and I think my sense of initiative, combined with this, will enable me to bring joy to the Class of 2027.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
I believe my peers should choose me to represent them on the student council because, in my 6 ft ness, I am able to see past many heads and therefore understand the full landscape of what needs to be changed at Peddie. I’ve never had a true leadership position before, but some say the best learning is done on the job. Also, I’ll have great models to follow (Bryan), and I’ll mostly just stay out of your way and try to be as least annoying as I can possibly be. I want to make life as convenient and fun for the students, because I know how stressful Peddie can be sometimes. I love Osamson too.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I want to be as engaged as possible with the student body, and I will do this by speaking to as many members of our community as possible and engaging with them to understand what they would like to see changed at the school.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
I want to have the basketball courts open for more hours because I know many people go there on the weekends to relax and unwind only to find out it’s closed. They proceed to be so devastated to the point where they’re confined to bed the whole weekend. I also want to drive more manpower toward fun DMX activities. I like what we had set up in the winter with hot chocolate during DMX, but I think that opportunity could be explored all year with me as student representative.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
Although I do robotics, I will still be able to devote time to student council and remain an active part of it.
