Why do you really want to serve in this position?
The reason why I want to serve on the student council is because I care about how our school may be improved and assuring that everyone’s voices are heard. I see this as an opportunity to construct a bridge between students and faculty. With my ability to work effectively, creatively and collaboratively we can advocate for positive changes and organize events. As many of you already know, I have great connections with many students across campus, and take my friendships very seriously, similar to the commitment I have for the school.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
I believe that the most crucial ability for an class rep all revolves arounds communication. I for example am an effective communicator and listener, someone that you can talk to and is easy to approach. Especially with my high level of enthusiasm and empathy, we can accomplish goals with ease. I also will strive for dorms to accommodate study hall demands depending on the student’s workload, as some students take more rigorous classes than others, and will need to manage their time accordingly. I personally believe that there should also be some leniency when it comes to check in times, and lights out, as well as WIFI not cutting out on Friday nights where there is no school the next day. I also want to continue to integrate the day students into the boarder’s lives by reducing same-gender visitation restrictions, and cutting down on the harsh punishments from breaking these rules. These are just some of the changes I am willing to help change, as I am also willing to receive others willing to advocate for your ideas!
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I will also send out forms for suggestion, events, etc. Not only will I include the student body as a group but also can be addressed the student body individually for more specific suggestions and ideas. As mentioned before I am approachable, which means that people can just come right up to me and give suggestions.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
The first actions that I will do when I am elected is to gather the entirety of the class of 2027 and receive suggestion to find the general direction of where we want to move towards. Where then there will be weekly optional surveys to give suggestions but also to supervise my progress on my promises.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
As I lead in other extracurricular events, I receive more experience compared to others. The obligations does not collide between the two roles. Allowing me to gain more experience as I am able to preform more efficiently in the student council .
