On Monday, April 7, Peddie hosted the third annual We Soar Family Style dinner event. Regular Family Style programming was enhanced by the presence of multiple generations of alumnae who sat at the tables and talked with current students.
We Soar is an affinity network that unites, celebrates and inspires Peddie women through a variety of initiatives and activities aimed at empowering our community. “We invite all women of Peddie! They receive an email invite from the alumni and development office,” said Ms. McKnight, associate director of engagement and reunions and the coordinator of the event, in an email.
Each table received a sheet of suggested questions that students used to spark conversation with the alumni. Questions included, “What was your favorite Peddie memory?” and “What advice do you have for students navigating the college admissions process?” Alumni engaged in meaningful discussions with and offered guidance to students. Faculty members at each table moderated the discussions and asked their own questions. This format of conversation led to incredible student-alumni connections.
Family Style coordinator Mr. Truslow remarked in his all-school email that, “these women are excited to engage with you all … they bring a wealth of life experience, all rooted in their own Peddie foundation, and you may find that you share some commonalities with them.”
Over PFS’s well-prepared mushroom chicken and asparagus, 41 tables of students learned invaluable life lessons and gained Peddie-specific insight from highly successful and informed alumni. Indeed, the We Soar event forged multi-generational bonds that undoubtedly benefit the students and alumni alike.
