Being on the discipline committee often requires that you put the needs of the school ahead of your personal feelings and friendships. In light of this, why should your peers choose you to represent them on a committee which makes decisions that have a profound impact on individuals and the school community as a whole? What qualities do you possess that make you a good candidate for this position?
If I’m chosen to be on the discipline committee, I’ll bring a student perspective while still understanding the importance of keeping our school safe and respectful. I think it’s really important that students feel like their side of the story is heard, especially when decisions being made can seriously affect them. At the same time, I know that being fair doesn’t mean just taking sides—it means listening carefully, thinking things through, and doing what’s right for both the individual and the school community. I’m someone who stays calm under pressure, communicates well, and tries to see all sides of a situation. I will make sure not to overlook what a student might be going through. I think that balance is what makes me a strong choice for this role.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of the Disciplinary Committee?
Next year, while I will be attending other obligations, this will not distract me from my role on the disciplinary committee. I will always stay focused and understand my responsibilities.
