Being on the discipline committee often requires that you put the needs of the school ahead of your personal feelings and friendships. In light of this, why should your peers choose you to represent them on a committee which makes decisions that have a profound impact on individuals and the school community as a whole? What qualities do you possess that make you a good candidate for this position?
Peddie is a unique community and a place where students have significant freedom and responsibilities. I understand that Peddie is a high school, a place where we should understand and forgive people’s impulsive mistakes. When dealing with cases that have a tremendous impact on the lives and future of Peddie students, I will be compassionate and respectful in order to understand their circumstances, while also being able to listen fairly and without prejudice to the offense. I hope Peddie can continue to be a place where students can feel safe, and part of that is following the rules we all agree to follow as students. I will be logical and rational in hearing cases to ensure our community can be as tight-knit as it is, and put the good of our school above personal interests and connections. Further, as a boarding student, I understand the rules of boarding at the school.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of the Disciplinary Committee?
The Disciplinary Committee is a great honor and responsibility and it will be my priority as I consider my actions. However, as a member of the FIRST robotics team I will not be available for a few days in March and April.
