Being on the discipline committee often requires that you put the needs of the school ahead of your personal feelings and friendships. In light of this, why should your peers choose you to represent them on a committee which makes decisions that have a profound impact on individuals and the school community as a whole? What qualities do you possess that make you a good candidate for this position?
I think I would be a good fit for the discipline committee because I have a unique, balanced view of things. I can set aside personal feelings and friendships in favor of making choices that benefit the school as a whole, regardless of the individuals involved. My experiences have provided me with a double vision, a perspective both from the side of the student being disciplined as well as from that of the school attempting to maintain its values. I think that double vision would be vital in a member of a disciplinary committee. It affords consideration of all sides, allowing decisions to be made responsibly as well as from a compassionate stance. I have firsthand knowledge of how it feels to be on the receiving end, and having that knowledge, I want to ensure every student is treated respectfully, thoughtfully, and equitably. Ultimately, I would like to be a member of a committee committed to upholding the standards of our community, but also to understanding second chances, growth, and learning from one’s errors.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of the Disciplinary Committee?
While I do have academic and extracurricular obligations next year, I am confident that I can manage my responsibilities in a way that allows me to fully commit to the Disciplinary Committee. I understand that being part of this committee is a serious responsibility, and I would prioritize it accordingly
