Why should members of the school community choose you to represent them on the Faculty-Student Senate? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative of the entire student body?
I believe that I would be an excellent candidate for the Faculty Student Senate. I thrive in open conversations, which is an essential part of discussing important issues affecting our community. Through my experience of being a student leader as a day student prefect, I have learned to be an active listener, allowing me to understand the concerns of my peers and represent them well. I am very passionate about engaging in conversations that aim to better our community and recognize the importance of transparency and collaboration between faculty and students. My leadership experience this year has taught me important lessons in patience, responsibility, and respect. I know the responsibilities that come with being a leader in this community and am dedicated to contributing to discussing issues. Most importantly, I would love to bring my passion and commitment to this position and advocate for positive change in our community.
What issues do you think the Faculty-Student Senate should address and why?
One important issue the Faculty-Student Senate should address is promoting balance on campus. Since balance is one of Peddie’s core values, it plays a crucial role in helping students thrive both academically and personally. To support this, the Senate can discuss initiatives that promote mental health awareness and stress management, such as workshops on time management and easier access to counseling services. Encouraging a culture where students feel comfortable joining extracurricular activities without being overwhelmed by schoolwork would also help create a healthier balance. I also believe balance is achieved with more opportunities for fun and play, and Peddie would benefit from these aspects. By taking these steps, the Faculty-Student Senate could help build a more supportive and balanced environment.
