Why should members of the school community choose you to represent them on the Faculty-Student Senate? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative of the entire student body?
Being at Peddie isn’t just about the experience of being present on campus, going to your classes and participating in afternoon activities, it’s how you interact with others and the community that truly defines your experience. I believe that while the current Peddie community has made changes that do benefit the problems within our environment, yet there are still so many changes that can be done. However, change is not easily set in motion within our lives, and in order to successfully create change, advocacy, confidence, and leadership is needed amongst our successful representatives. I believe that I have the confidence it takes to bring up the change that needs to happen and I will advocate for what I believe is right.
What issues do you think the Faculty-Student Senate should address and why?
I think the Faculty Student Senate should address issues from all points of view at Peddie, such as the needs of day students. Having a dorm, the boarders are able to have a clean water filter, a lounge with friends, and a safe and convenient place to put their bags everyday. However, being a day student, things are different, we rely on each of the buildings’ water filters if we want to fill our empty water bottles throughout the day, a lot of which taste incomparable to the ones in the dorm. We have to carry all our bags, filled with clothes, upstairs to the lockers everyday in order to store them safely, and even though we do have the Masland Room, other day students rarely hang out and socialize there. These issues are not addressed enough for a portion of the community although it truly contributes to all of our experiences here.
