The JV Girls Tennis has been off to a great start this year. Within a short one and a half months into the school year, the team, under the coaching staff of Head Coach Desmond Frost and Assistant Coach Bronwynn Woodsworth, has successfully secured an impressive number of 4 wins. New players emerged onto the scene, striving headstrong to exhibit and impress with their talents; the veterans continue to help and lead the team steadfastly. With a perfect blend of girls with a myriad of talents, the team is capable of many advantages ultimately leading them to success.
Peddie’s team fought hard in a fierce home match against West Windsor-Plainsboro North High School. At the start of the game, the two teams battled each other head-on. West Windsor-Plainsboro utilized their strategies and tactics to take the lead in the first half of the game. The Peddie girls were exhausted by their rival’s charge, finding it difficult to secure their victory. However, none of the girls were willing to give up. Each pair reflected on their matches and prepared new tactics to drive the match towards their own route, fighting firmly to regain their throne. While Addie Collins ’27 and Megan Cheng ’27 initially lost 2-6 against the latter team, they created a new strategy plan and successfully put their hands back on the tire, controlling the game. The duo came down to a tie of 9-5 against their rivals. Yet, their ambitions fueled them to fight even more. The girls came back stronger, filled with perseverance, and attacked West Windsor-Plainsboro, ultimately breaking the tie and winning the match, 11-9.
Victory is not only a product of hard work, but also the teamwork between players as they create a strong bond with each other. The girls in JV Tennis have started friendships among the team. They socialize while practicing, strengthening both their athletic techniques and team unity at the same time. Megan Cheng ’27 shared her enjoyment of playing a sport with the people she loves. “The best part of the team is being able to play a sport I’ve played since I was young with my good friends,” she stated.
The right relationship between the girls has significantly impacted the team’s success this season, helping them push through any obstacle and find their paths to success.
The fall season has been wonderful for Peddie’s JV Girls Tennis Team. Currently running with a beautiful score of 4-1-2, the girls’ winning streak has been strong and will continue to thrive. The team will have its next games against Hopewell Valley Central and Rutgers Prep School. Let’s look forward to their upcoming events and cheer for them!
