Peddie Boys Varsity soccer is off to a great start, with a whopping nine wins and only one loss to the number four nationally ranked St. Benedicts Preparatory School. Many members of the team agree that their success is due to the chemistry on and off the field.

“Something just clicked this year. Our team is truly something special, and our success is really a result of the hard work that everyone puts on the field each day,” Mac Naggar ’18 expressed his excitement over the team.

Players also agree that varsity soccer coach Peter McClellan has been a big part of their success.

“His coaching and discipline are what drive the team forward,” players said.

Along with McClellan, captains Adedeji Pamer ’17 and Sean Dailey ’17 have shown great cooperation on and off the field, which is setting an example for the team’s chemistry.

However, the soccer team’s success hasn’t been easy. There have been several injuries along the way. Jacob Greene ’17 had a season ending ACL injury, and many players have had to be benched for a game due to smaller injuries.  Regardless, the team has had great substitutes for the those injured.

Looking forward, the team wishes to continue their success, and also win the MAPL Championship and State Championship back to back. The State Championship is against St. Benedicts, so the players hope to redeem themselves and rise in the national rankings. Next year, the team will be losing many seniors, but they hope to carry on their victories.

“I hope that I will have a team as supportive, dedicated, and talented as the one at Peddie,” Palmer ’17, who is committed to playing soccer at Yale next fall, said.

The team will also be playing against: The Hill School, Pennington School, Lawrenceville School, Mercersburg Academy, and The Hun School of Princeton.  Players hope to continue playing well and winning games. Teammates agree that they are optimistic towards the remainder of the fall season and are excited to see what they can do.
