Candidate Statement
My name is Connor Pawliczak and I am running for Co-President of the school. I am a Junior day student from Monroe Township, New Jersey. My main goal as your class president would be to give a voice to every member of the Peddie community, acting as a bridge between students, faculty, and administration. I would make an effort to seek and understand the wants and needs of each student and take the initiative needed to address and execute their ideas. I believe that in order to maintain and facilitate a positive school culture, there needs to be a strong and equal balance between academic, athletic, and social pursuits. Finding balance is the key to growing as individuals and allows us to make the most of our time at Peddie. While I believe that Peddie has done a good job facilitating this balance, I will push for more time for exploration into personal passions. Not only does the responsibility of promoting balance fall on the school, but students must also take the time to search for opportunities outside of their comfort zone.
As president, I promise that my beliefs and decisions will be centered around the experience of the student body and it’s effect on their physical and emotional well-being. Over the course of my time at Peddie, I have really fallen in love with the community, culture, and opportunities that Peddie offers. The memories I have made will be with me for the rest of my life and have shaped me into the person I am and someday hope to become. I hope that by the end of my time at Peddie, I will have made this experience something all members of the community love and cherish as much as I have.
Governing student council and the school will take a good portion of your time, what other activities both in and out of school do you plan on participating in? How will you balance them?
I am a part of the Football team and I am the captain of the Wrestling team. Also, I have taken many honors and AP classes so far at Peddie. While sometimes balance is difficult, I find that I
have always done a good job of making time for my academic, athletic, and social interests. Even with my rigorous athletic and academic schedule, I find the time to make memories with my friends and prioritize having fun. I am also a member of many clubs, a tour guide, and a member of the Faculty-Student Senate, however, I have always been able to balance those responsibilities efficiently. I will always make time for the things in my life I care about most and my job as Co-President will always be a priority.
What qualities do you possess that makes you a good role model and representative that will allow you to be a leader of the entire school?
I am always committed to being there for those who may need my support. I am very hard-working and will dedicate myself to any work that needs to be done as the leader of the entire school. I am a very good listener and will always seek the voices of the student body and gain a deep understanding of their emotions so that I can represent them. My ability to speak my mind and advocate for my opinion will be crucial as I seek change and contribute to conversations about the student body. I am also very good at taking into account the opinions
of my classmates to form a consensus on each issue instead of only valuing my opinion on matters. Also, my diverse list of campus activities will give me a wider perspective on each topic.
What ideas do you have for change and how would you implement these ideas? What would you like to continue?
Ultimately, my goal as Co-President is to give a voice to every student at Peddie and focus on improving the experience of each Peddie Student. I would implement a system to allow all students to voice their wants, needs, and concerns respectfully and constructively. Furthermore, I would work to improve the social climate by advocating for more spaces on campus away from the classroom to spend time with friends. I would try to help find ways to lighten the load to allow students to spend more time at school events, hanging out with friends, getting food in town, or any other activity they want to prioritize.
