Candidate Statement
“The Vice-President’s Handbook”
Order: establish order
Security: strengthen security
Freedom: freedom from fear
Chapel: I will run chapel
Hello, my name is Lue. You may have noticed me in your inbox before. Our VPs in recent memory, be it Quinn Liu, Chris Du, or Kaseme Leckie, I admire greatly. But I have noticed that under any given leadership, community spirit can fluctuate from highs to lows. Events this year have felt superficial.
In order for us to reciprocate the excitement from the MC, we need events that are well-planned, even if this means reducing the total number of Community Meetings. We need representatives who can go on stage and define our next ambitious initiatives and amendments. To that end, I have massive projects in mind, and once we see momentum, enthusiasm will naturally follow.
To jumpstart this momentum, reform must come from within. In my opinion, leadership should emerge from within the students themselves. A capable Vice-President or Co-President should be the one standing up during meetings. They must have a clear agenda, bring fresh ideas, take notes as others pitch in, and delegate to push for consistent change. I believe I am capable of that punctuality.
Finally, there is a need for communication between StuCo and the student body. A somewhat frequent feedback loop will allow for adjustments in steerage. We may send out a form or
weekly DOSE. This will encourage government to actually have things to report back with.
Thank you for your consideration.
Governing student council and the school will take a good portion of your time, what other activities both in and out of school do you plan on participating in? How will you balance them?
As Sun Tzu once said, “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” In Rhode Island I will seek out the Hooded Figure for a yellow vial—yellow for fury, yellow for
Bumblebee from Transformers. There was a Chinese king who evaded an assassin by running around a pillar. So too I will run around a pillar, except the pillar is the pool and I am extremely slow at backstroke; the worst assassin would catch me. However, with the protection of Coach Emmett Walling, what doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger.
What qualities do you possess that makes you a good role model and
representative that will allow you to be a leader of the entire school?
La paciencia
Simpática
Una nueva perspectiva sobre el envejecimiento
Salud física
Beneficios emocionales y psicológicos
Cultura, sabiduría, y tradiciones
文韬武略
(my sister’s name is Tao)
What ideas do you have for change and how would you implement these ideas? What would you like to continue?
My detailed campaign platform will reveal itself over the next few weeks. But there are nine key tenants, core elements of what I believe we can accomplish, that I will offer:
Three Promises:
1. Reform from within
2. Communication & joint letter
3. Hype
Three Milestones:
4. Goals for the community
5. New representative roles
6. Revised Blair Day strategy
Three Investments:
7. Sustainability (garden)
8. PFS
9. Student-faculty senate
Up to you as to whether these are the changes you want to see. One word: it’s now or never.
