Candidate Statement:
Hi everyone! I’m Shea McGlynn and I am a boarder from Nazareth Pennsylvania. Swimming has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember and it is one of the things that makes me the happiest. This leads me to why I am running. I want to bring the community I see in the pool to the wider campus. The swim team are the people who I am closest to on this campus and the team means as much to me as this school does. I want to give everyone the opportunity to feel the way I feel about the swim team to everyone at this school. Another thing about me is that I am a New Jersey Swimming At-Large Representative. Through this I am a leader to New Jersey Swimming and I help plan activities for the swimming community to do. This is exactly the job of the Vice President, to help bring the community together. From there I have many ideas on how to bring us closer and would love the chance to implement them.
Thank you for reading this and I hope that you will consider voting for me for your Vice President!
Governing student council and the school will take a good portion of your time, what other activities both in and out of school do you plan on participating in? How will you balance them?
My only commitment is varsity swimming. Other than about two hours after school I am prepared to give any time I have outside of classes to student council.
What qualities do you possess that makes you a good role model and representative that will allow you to be a leader of the entire school?
I am dedicated to helping people better themselves whether that be in the pool or academically. My teammates often comment about how I push them to be better. I’m also committed to being the best student and swimmer I could be. On top of that, I’m not afraid to speak up or voice opinions from myself or others.
What ideas do you have for change and how would you implement these ideas? What would you like to continue?
Something that I want to do is bring the community closer together. One way I would do this is by bringing more support for sports teams. Every team at this school deserves people cheering for them or showing up to their events, like the art show and theater performances. We could organize clubs and groups to make sure that every school activity is receiving the acknowledgement that they deserve from all the hard work they put in everyday from JV to Varsity.
