Candidate Statement:
Hi Peddie! For those who don’t know me, my name is Victor Tse. Over my time here, I have had my fair share of ups and downs, but the constant has always been our community. We really do always show up for each other and make everyone feel welcome at Peddie. As a freshman, I was a shy and socially awkward kid who never really wanted to do anything outside of school. I would have never guessed two years later that I would become much more outgoing as well as mature so much. This is because this community has meant so much for me. I believe that Peddie is in a much better place than it was when I was a freshmen; however, I believe we can always do better which is why I am campaigning for progress (making Peddie better a little bit). I know all of you want to hear me say that as VP I will have every PFS meal the best food you’ve ever had as well as saving the world. The truth is that that is not happening. However, I can promise that I will try my very best to make as many people’s Peddie experience as great as possible, whether that will be just in general around campus, in Community Meeting, or anything else in between.
Thank you and Ala Viva!
Governing student council and the school will take a good portion of your time, what other activities both in and out of school do you plan on participating in? How will you balance them?
I am currently the president of Peddie’s Quizbowl Club as well as a member of the Varsity Swim Team. I do understand the great time constraints if I am elected VP. But don’t worry, I will figure it out, anything for this community.
What qualities do you possess that makes you a good role model and representative that will allow you to be a leader of the entire school?
One quality that I have is that I am an extremely fair person. I listen to both sides of an argument, dispute, etc. On top of that, I am very people-oriented as well as extremely inclusive of others. For example, as a prefect in Potter North this year, I hosted two Brawl Stars tournaments for the entire dorm because I know a lot of people like Brawl Stars (I don’t play that game). This is all because I want to see the camaraderie on campus and especially in my dorm, “my home away from home.”
What ideas do you have for change and how would you implement these ideas? What would you like to continue?
I know people say this every single year, but I really want the Visitation policies amended, not a lot, but a little. Maybe start Study Hall 15 minutes later or have the respective dorm sup start the check-in period 15 minutes earlier if possible. This would be beneficial to both boarders and day students. One thing I really want to continue is the mentorship of upperclassmen to underclassmen. From personal experience, I have really appreciated upperclassmen giving me advice when I was a freshmen and now passing down my knowledge to the current underclassmen. That is something I would want to keep.
