Peddie students gathered outside the chapel on Sept. 18 to attend the inaugural Student Organization fair. Clubs and organizations managed tables decorated with poster boards and candy to attract new members.
Attendees of the organization fair included: Mock Trial, Peddie Fashion Club, Model UN, Feminist Club, Peddie GSA, Spanish Club, Chinese Club, Multi-Cultural Alliance, Legacy, Yearbook, French Club, Poetry Out Loud, Bee Keepers, Brother’s Keeper, Young Democrats Club, Young Republicans Club, Peddie News, Red Cross Club and ESL, among others.
Peddie is home to many clubs and organizations, and this was an opportunity for each club to make themselves known. The majority of clubs at the fair planned to gather members and spark people’s interest, and then follow up with an all-school email for those who did not attend the fair.
“The fair was a great chance for new students to learn about, and join clubs that they did not know existed prior to the fair,” Emma Becker ’17, a leader of Model UN, said. “It was a wonderful opportunity for students to sign up for a wide array of clubs that aligned with their hobbies, political views, and skills. By joining clubs, new students were able to fully immerse themselves in Peddie’s community, while returning students were able to rejoin their favorite clubs on campus.”
“This year, we’ve had more sign-ups than ever,” Yearbook Editor-in-Chief Taylor Keesling ’16 said. “Although our video at community meeting helped to gain interest, the club fair allowed us to follow up with the people who were interested.”
