Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
I firmly believe that through diversity and inclusion of other’s opinions, we are able to grow as a community. That’s why I’m a great fit for student representative of the Class of 2027. I have always valued working with others and building good relationships. Whether it be class projects, musical ensembles, or clubs, I’m always asking for advice and making sure that everybody’s ideas are heard. With my past experience leading a broadcasting club in middle school, I understand how to communicate with others to create plans and events. I also value the arts because they help express a student’s creativity and beliefs, which are very important to building Peddie’s culture. As someone who enjoys expressing themself through music and poetry, I would love to bring ideas for school activities and events that will help students display their creativity, such as an open mic for monologues and a fundraiser musical recital. Overall, I will value student voices and make sure they make a difference in the Peddie community.
What have you enjoyed most at Peddie this fall?
So far, I’m really enjoying the extracurricular activities at Peddie. With so many diverse programs and clubs, I feel that everybody is able to find a place in the community. For example, I chose cross country for my fall sport and even though I’m not one of the fastest runners, I still felt part of the team and had lots of fun making new friendships and connections. Peddie’s music program has also been so incredible, with several amazing opportunities such as performing in Chapel and in the fall concert. I feel that no matter who you are and what you like to do, you’re bound to find a home at Peddie.
What are some clubs, activities, teams, or groups that you’re a part of on campus?
I’m part of five different music ensembles (including chamber orchestra, woodwind ensembles, and the pulse), Peddie News, Amphion, Film Club, Artivism, and Chinese Club. For sports, I’m in indoor Track and field and formerly in JV Cross Country.
What is your favorite Peddie tradition so far?
My favorite Peddie tradition so far is definitely the Freshman Musical. I participated in this year’s Shrek the Musical Jr, and the experience was so much fun. I learned a lot about singing, dancing, acting, and most importantly, connected with a bunch of people in my grade and got to experience their amazing talent. Despite the overwhelming crowd, I think the show went incredibly, and I’m very proud of the cast and the crew/teachers.
What’s your favorite holiday?
Lunar New Year is my favorite holiday because of the cultural traditions, reconnecting with friends/family, and amazing food! A couple of traditions include wearing red, cleaning/decorating the house, making delicious food/dinner, and watching TV galas. The holiday is actually 15 days long, which means lots of time for celebration!

What is your favorite Peddie memory?
My favorite Peddie memory is during the Freshmen Games, when I represented my class in the spoken poetry competition. Each humanities class represented a society we discussed during class, and we were the Omelas from a sci-fi story by Ursula LeGuin. I spent a lot of time writing a poem that would convey the despairing and mistreated character of the child, and ended up winning! It was a fun and empowering experience.
What’s your favorite TV show?
I don’t really watch TV shows, but one show that I’m very excited for is the Percy Jackson show coming to Disney Plus very soon. It’s based on a fantasy series that focuses on Greek gods/myths but in a 21st century setting, and also with the children of the gods (demigods) being the main characters. I’ve loved the series ever since elementary school, when I was in my ‘mythology/fantasy’ book phase.
What are some things you like to do in your free time?
Some things I like to do in my free time include listening to all kinds of music (jazz, indie pop, etc), reading books, biking and hiking, playing video games, and hanging out with my friends!
Share a fun fact about yourself!
A fun fact about me is that I have perfect pitch, which means I can recognize any musical note by name after hearing it without reference to other notes. That means I can sing/play an instrument on cue and learn songs by ear!
