Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
But she wears short skirts, I wear formal clothes, she’s cheer captain and I’m just a runner… dreaming about the day when you wake up and find that what you have been looking for has been Charis as your Stu Co representative the whole time! Enough with the Taylor Swift yapping, as a juggler with orchestra, chorus, and running, I’ve gotten to see what true Peddie spirit looks like in all teams and classrooms alike and would like to continue on with that through leading our Freshmen class and planning fun events – who knows we might go skiing together or have sledding competitions on Blair’s unnecessary hills when it finally snows one day – the possibilities are endless. You call it, I listen, some Disney magic and we’re having fun! Vote for me as a “Chairs” you can always lean on.
What have you enjoyed most at Peddie this fall?
Every afternoon or early morning I’ve spent with the varsity cross country team this late summer and entire fall has been amazing. There’s something about them that encourages me to run more even after running seven to ten miles on a long run. From bus sing-alongs to having a synchronized swimming competition during pool practice, there’s always something new to look forward to as we begin our labors anew.
What are some clubs, activities, teams, or groups that you’re a part of on campus?
I’m part of the varsity cross country team and track team right now. I am also part of Orchestra and its chamber groups as well as Chorus and its smaller group Treblemakers. As for clubs, the ones I’ve been most active in are the Newspaper Club, Film Club, Terrapins Club, Bon Appetit Cooking Club, Unity Dance Club, and the Japanese Culture Club.
What is your favorite Peddie tradition so far?
Besides Blair Day and being able to dance to a Rihanna medley with the cross country team during the pep rally, I really enjoyed watching the Freshmen Musical “Shrek Jr.” this year and Homecoming had a fun atmosphere to it.
What’s your favorite holiday?
Christmas has got to be the most wonderful time of the year for me. I’ll never forget spending Christmas at a ski resort in Canada with my family and cousins; not to mention watching Santa parasailing in the sky!
What is your favorite Peddie memory?
One of my favorite memories here at Peddie includes our end of term Odyssey Party with our Humanities class – everyone dressed up as a character from the epic poem and seeing the transformation from Zeus-River to Fiona-River in the same day is just hilarious and amazing.
What’s your favorite TV show?
I’ve had a variety of favorite shows ranging from the action-packed Cantonese drama, “The Legend of the Condor Heroes 1983”, to the funny Korean dramas, “Full House” & “Mr. Queen”, and not to forget a Disney classic, “Jessie”.
What are some things you like to do in your free time?
When I have some time to spare, I like to watch old Cantonese and Korean variety shows, bike, or sing karaoke at home with my family; or when I’m by myself, I like editing/making little films or writing short stories of my own.
Share a fun fact about yourself!
A fun fact about me is that I’ve “learnt” and am able to sing a plentitude of songs in different languages (mostly Cantonese, Korean, and French) by simply just listening to them by ear instead of looking at lyrics and looking up how to pronounce each one – meaning even if I’m not fluent in that language, if I listen to that song a few times, I quickly catch on the pronunciation and pitch in my own funny yet accurate way.
