As the Class of 2026 decides which colleges they would like to attend, college application season nears the Class of 2027.
On April 15 and 16, the Class of 2027 met with college representatives from all across the United States during the College Counseling Office’s annual College Fair events.
The College Fairs took place between 12–1 pm in the Erik Hansen Fieldhouse, located in the Ian H. Graham ’50 Athletic Center.
The college fairs aim to introduce students to new colleges that might suit their interests and serve as an opportunity for students to learn more about colleges they are interested in.
On the first day, 81 college representatives visited Peddie. The next day, 86 college representatives were present.
Each college representative had a stand on the indoor basketball court of the Erik Hansen Fieldhouse, where they displayed promotional materials such as brochures with information about their institution.
At the fair, students often feel an initial sense of overstimulation due to the volume of people and schools attending the event. However, by engaging with the different representatives, students are able to grow more comfortable expressing curiosity and learn valuable information about different colleges and the college process.
“When I first got to the gym, I felt a little overwhelmed, but as I talked to more college representatives, I got more comfortable,” junior Jeremy Lopez-Soc said. “I slowly began to realize that they were truly here to express their passion about where they belong and share their experiences.”
Above all, the College Fairs are a chance for students to be introduced to a diverse array of schools and maintain an open mind as the application process takes off.
“I feel like the college fairs have significantly expanded my viewing horizon for colleges,” junior Austin Hua remarked. “The experience helped me realize that there are certain colleges that could become hidden gems to me.”
As the Class of 2027 begins their college search, events like the college fair support their journey in finding a place where they belong.
