Twelve students from Peddie’s orchestra and two students from the chorus have been selected to participate in high school regional ensembles managed by CJMEA (Central Jersey Music Educators Association).
Auditions were held in person at the John P. Stevens High School in Edison on December 13. Twenty-two students from Peddie — 20 instrumentalists and two vocalists — auditioned.
A list of accepted students and their respective ensembles was provided by Arts Department Chair and Director of Music Mr. Michaels. They are organized by ensemble below:
Mixed Chorus – Agnes Yung ’29 (soprano)
Treble Chorus – Stephanie Oh ’26 (alto)
Symphonic Band – Alex Giangone ’27 (tuba)
Philharmonic Orchestra – Aria Shi ’27 (violin), Bryan Zhao ’27 (violin), Sua Yoon ’29 (violin), Rachel Jeon ’28 (string bass)
Symphonic Orchestra – Jiani Xu ’29 (violin), Tiffany Tian ’27 (viola), Charis Chien ’27 (cello), Charlotte Ji-Dressel ’27 (cello), Luke Liu ’27 (cello), Ryan Yan ’28 (cello), Sophie Wang ’27 (oboe)
The philharmonic and symphony orchestras’ concert will be held on January 11 at 3 p.m. at the Monroe Township High School. The symphonic band (along with the wind ensemble) will hold a concert on January 18 at 3 p.m. at Rutgers University. The mixed and treble choruses’ concert will be held on January 25 at 3 p.m., also at Rutgers University.
