Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I want to serve in this position because I feel that I am connected to a lot of different groups at Peddie and I can help amplify their voices to the greater community.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
My peers should choose me to represent them because I am not afraid to speak up and make sure our class gets a voice in student body decisions. I am an active member in our community and have a wide range of friends that allow me to hear many different opinions. Some ideas that I want to bring to student council are recommendations from my classmates so I will ask them frequently what they think we should do to better the Peddie experience.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I will make sure my leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body by frequently asking for constructive criticism from all different people in my class to make sure that I’m not just receiving information from my friends.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
I want to make dinner longer for all students because since dinner is only an hour long, some students might not have time to attend. Some day students rely on school dinner to eat because they don’t have time to eat it at home and most boarders solely rely on dinner therefore if they can’t make it they have to go out and eat. Dinner is oftentimes a hard meal to attend to because of practices and rehearsals ending exactly when dinner starts, therefore causing conflict for students time management.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
I am a part of the athletics and the theatre community, two very diverse groups of people. In these groups I am surrounded by many differing perspectives of the Peddie community therefore my additions to the Peddie student council will ensure that I am representing a wide range of Peddie opinions. My academic obligations also provide a great source or knowledge of the Peddie community because I can represent people who take Spanish and people who enjoy the arts.
