Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I want to be a freshman class representative because I care about our grade and also want to help make our first year at Peddie the best it can be. I am a person who listens, communicates clearly, and works well with other people. I believe that you should vote for me because I will speak up for our class, bring your ideas to the table, while making sure everyone feels included and supported.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
You should choose me because I am responsible, approachable, and willing to put in the work. I communicate clearly, stay organized, and follow through on my commitments. I would bring ideas like better ways to share information about school or freshman events, as well as more small improvements that can make daily life easier and more enjoyable for our grade.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I will reach out to students from different groups, interests, and backgrounds, and check in with people regularly. I want to make sure every voice is heard, including those who aren’t always comfortable speaking up.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
I want to focus on making our schedules and responsibilities easier to manage. One idea is improving how students can see upcoming commitments, like creating a clearer weekly overview of events, meetings, deadlines, and big assignments, so no one feels surprised or overwhelmed. It would be called “The Freshman Fix”. I would start this right away by sending out short class emails once or twice a week with reminders about upcoming events, important deadlines, and big assignments. This way, no freshman feels overwhelmed or left behind because everyone gets the same clear, simple updates in one place. Another thing in this newsletter I would work on creating something fun and uplifting, like a section highlighting a few freshmen each week, recognizing big accomplishments, sports achievements, impressive projects, or anything our classmates are proud of. This would help our grade stay informed, feel supported, and celebrate each other.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
Even with classes and after-school activities, I am good and still getting better at managing my time and staying organized. I will make sure that Student Council responsibilities stay a priority and that I am always available for our grade.
