Why do you really want to serve in this position?
I wish to serve in this position to utilize my own abilities to bring about changes and improve our shared experiences at school. Leading the math club has provided me with an opportunity to organize activities in my own fields of interest and passion, while inspiring thought in my peers. Taking joy from the role, it also encourages me to expand my vision, not only in math, but implementing changes in student life and activities, leaving my own impact on the community.
Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
My qualities of being helpful and reliable are the core reasons to elect me as a part of the Student Council. Through leading the Math Club, I have gained experience in communicating with individuals and in planning events effectively, insights that I will carry forward. My responsibility and work ethic will drive me to be fully devoted to the council if I have the opportunity. As an active club leader and a constant pursuer of academic excellence, I seek to bring a fresh, innovative perspective to the council, listening to students’ needs and serving the community.
How will you ensure that your leadership is inclusive and representative of the entire student body?
I aim to actively collect students’ feedback through surveys, from the academic curriculum to daily life activities, to gain a true reflection of their wishes and needs. My involvement with upperclassmen also allows me to seek opinions from not only my own peers but across several grades, thus representing the greater student body.
What initiatives do you have in mind to improve the overall school experience for your fellow students?
Academically, I hold plans to organize activities for students to learn collaboratively, such as student-led review sessions and peer advisor programs. More emphasis will also be placed on clubs, encouraging them to actively organize activities and play a greater role in students’ daily lives.
How might your academic and extracurricular obligations next year impact your role as a member of Student Council?
Taking advanced courses such as AP Physics C and PCH, my academic achievements demonstrate my competency in handling tasks. In the face of a heavy workload, I am able to balance my tasks wisely, ensuring that I will commit and actively contribute to the council. My experience of organizing the math club also forms a solid basis for future leadership tasks I will encounter.
