Freshman Rep Candidate Q & A – Angelina Morales

Freshman+Rep+Candidate+Q+%26+A+%E2%80%93+Angelina+Morales

Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
I believe that through my learning experiences at Peddie, I would love to lead our freshmen class into being positive role models for the world beyond high school. Through my leadership, social awareness, positivity, and inclusiveness, I have confidence that I would benefit our freshmen class by perhaps organizing a group of leaders into teaching workshops specifically for our freshmen class in order to teach us how to lead as respectful and intelligent citizens of our specific communities. I believe that through these supplement classes, that again only freshmen would receive, we would gain some valuable lessons and learn new things beyond the academic and athletic setting. I will also manage everything else that we have at Peddie and, of course, I am open-minded to any suggestions that students may have. To conclude, I believe that I have important assets that our freshmen class would benefit from and I would love to lead a group of such great people this year!

What have you enjoyed most at Peddie this fall?

At Peddie, I immediately noticed the certain ambience there is in the sense that all Peddie students share many common characteristics: motivation, ambition, kindness, happiness, etc. During my first week of Peddie, while I was still adjusting to the environment that is Peddie, I already felt that I would belong in the daily practice of academic, sports, and community life. All of my classes have brought me great joy in the learning process; my teachers have done a great job of engaging me in their lessons from the start, and I always feel that I’m learning something new every day. I have been on the JV Girls Tennis team for the first time, which was a great experience for me. Through my coaches and teammates, I have developed an even greater passion for tennis, and I have loved playing games with my team. Through all of these important events during my fall term at Peddie, there is one thing that stands out to me. That is the sense of family I have felt through my time here. I have found a solid group of lovely peers that truly understand me as well as enjoy my company. I have enjoyed meeting new people who have interesting perspectives on different topics as well as having fun! It has been extraordinary to spend my first months at Peddie with these compassionate people who make my life worth it here at Peddie, and I look forward to the many more months here!

What are some clubs, activities, teams, or groups that you’re a part of on campus?

Though I am a freshman, I have already found many great organizations to be a part of on campus that I have enjoyed immensely. For example, my fall sport that I was a part of was the JV girls Tennis Team, which was a great start to finding a great group of people who enjoyed playing tennis as I do! After the club fair, I set out to join many clubs, which include being a tour guide, P.E.S.T., For girls club, sneaker club, sense of humanity, medicine at peddie, and amnesty international.

What is your favorite Peddie tradition so far?

My favorite Peddie tradition so far has to be the great Blair Week. The sense of fun and enjoyment preparing in the week leading up to Blair Day, it has to be described as just a time where I could just relax with my friends and dress up for spirit week. Finally, Blair Day was a great day filled with excitement, team spirit, as well as the anticipation seeing who would end out on top. Though we tied this year, being able to participate in Blair Week and Blair Day has definitely been the highlight of my year so far!

What is your favorite holiday?

My favorite holiday is Christmas because of the wonderful spirit in the air during the month of December, and then obviously the gift-giving as well as the sense of family and friends during the special Christmas day!

What is your favorite Peddie memory?

My favorite Peddie memory is when I first moved into my dorm the first week of orientation. I remember the campus leaders assisting me to my room, and as I looked around the room, I knew that this is where I wanted to be. I felt happy, already sensing the sense of community that surrounded Peddie’s campus.

What’s your favorite tv show?

Though there are many to choose from, I would say that my favorite tv show would have to be Gilmore Girls because of the fun fall vibe that make the show most enjoyable to watch as well as the academic setting that makes me always determined to do well in school.

What are some things you like to do in your free time?

Some hobbies of mine that are enjoyable for me include playing piano, playing tennis, singing, drawing, and cooking!
