Freshman Rep Candidate Q & A – Chloé Cheng

Freshman+Rep+Candidate+Q+%26+A+%E2%80%93+Chlo%C3%A9+Cheng

Why should your peers choose you to represent them on the Student Council and in the Peddie community? What qualities do you possess that will allow you to be a successful representative? What ideas do you want to bring to Student Council?
Hi! My name is Chloé Cheng, and I’m a day student from Central Jersey. I’m running for class representative because I really enjoy working in student government; I had the opportunity to serve as President of my middle school’s Student Council last year, which I found to be very rewarding. I would make an excellent representative because I am responsible, a good listener, and an enthusiastic advocate. I plan to take my role as a representative seriously. I will prepare for and actively participate in meetings with a goal of being the voice of our class. I’ll make sure to frequently reach out to our grade to hear what ideas you have, and then discuss them with the other members of the Student Council so that your opinions and ideas are heard and considered. I will also strive to maintain consistent communication with everyone so that you will be kept in the loop about student council activities. A couple of ideas that I might bring to Student Council are: First, I would be in favor of organizing a communal poetry/art board for public viewing and commenting. Second, I think it would be fun to coordinate an informal musical jam-session where performers can collaborate with each other in a low pressure environment and have fun making music. I’m open to hearing your opinions and ideas, too!
Thank you and Ala Viva~

What have you enjoyed most at Peddie this fall?

I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to independently structure my day, which I was unable to do during my middle school years. I have so much fun studying with friends at the library and hanging out during free blocks. I found the spontaneity of options at Peddie to be pleasantly surprising and exciting. Every single day is different, which is really cool to me!
